We are looking for people who like to invent, people who bring novel ideas into the real world, people who felt like they are being held back by the environment they are in, and most importantly people who know they will be doing this full time for the rest of their lives. This type of person tends to be or become a startup founder or researcher, but you can call it whatever you'd like. To narrow it down, we are primarily looking for people working on technical/software related projects though any industry can apply. Understand this distinction: Everyone (hopefully) has a purpose or mission in life, whether it's driven by personal interest or the desire to make an impact. For example, someone might want to become a lawyer because they have a talent for it, a SWE because it pays well, or a Cook because they enjoy it.) But we’re looking for a different, rarer kind of person—the kind who makes their interest their life. The kind of person who is constantly unsatisfied with what exists, they see a gap and feels driven to fill it themselves. (ex: building blockchain tools because you know decentralized finance is the future, or using AI to create workflows that never existed before.) This path comes with unique challenges, and these individuals need more than just occasional advice or resources—they need consistent, deep support to maximize their chances of success. Admissions are on a rolling basis. If you don't hear back within 1-2 weeks of applying, it's best to assume we've moved forward with other candidates.

Yes, Playa House is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, major, project, or background.

We have a very detailed application and interview process to make sure everyone is benefiting and compatible in a co-living environment. Also, we are hosting a Meet & Greet for all prospective residents so you can make your decision prior to signing a lease. You will most likely be living with another person in one room. After applications close we will have an orientation day where we will cover topics such as; cleanliness, communication, organization,roles, responsibility, and other preferences)

Please continue any other housing plans you have outside of Playa House. For those of you who are admitted and have a lease, we have a system set up to allow you to cancel your current lease and find roommate replacements. For those of you who are admitted and contemplating canceling their current lease, trust me it'll be worth it. We encourage you to apply regardless of your circumstances. Admission does not commit you to signing a lease.
